GEO Agency Case Study: Discovered Labs 0.5→8.7%
Two months ago, when marketers and founders asked AI assistants which agencies actually get B2B brands recommended in AI search, Discovered Labs wasn't on the list. Today it shows up in nearly 1 in 5 answers to its flagship question (agencies for AI search optimization) and 92% of mentions are positive.

Introduction
Discovered Labs is a B2B agency that helps companies get found in AI search across models like ChatGPT and Gemini). Fittingly, the real test for an agency in this space is whether *it* shows up when buyers ask AI to recommend one.
Two months ago, it mostly didn't. Across the buyer questions we track, AI assistants named Discovered Labs almost **none of the time** with established names like First Page Sage and iPullRank were getting recommended instead.
What we did
CrowdReply helped Discovered Labs show up in the conversations its buyers were already having on Reddit — marketers, founders and operators discussing AI search, SEO, growth and B2B tooling.
The approach is to be genuinely useful and on-topic in each thread (never spammy), so that both buyers and the AI assistants that read these communities start to recognise Discovered Labs as a credible answer.
The questions Discovered Labs is winning on
These are the high-intent buyer questions where AI assistants now recommend Discovered Labs, all up from near zero:

More wins
Now recommended alongside established agencies
In those same answers, Discovered Labs went from absent to appearing next to the most established names in the category:
First Page Sage
iPullRank
NoGood
Animalz
Directive Consulting
Winning fastest on Google Gemini
The gains aren't spread evenly across assistants as Gemini is the breakout channel, recommending Discovered Labs more than twice as often as ChatGPT:

AI describes Discovered Labs positively
92% of mentions are positive (and almost none negative). When AI names multiple agencies, Discovered Labs currently lands around 8th on average.
The #1 cited source is Reddit — exactly where we engage
When AI assistants back up these agency recommendations with sources, Reddit is the single most-cited source of all, ahead of every blog, review site and competitor.
That's the key insight for this category: the communities are the authority AI trusts, so a genuine, helpful presence there feeds directly into the answers buyers see.
Discovered Labs' own content is already getting cited
Discovered Labs' own guides are also being picked up by AI led by its “best AEO agencies” listicle and its services page:
Biggest low-hanging fruit: Owning your citations is the part you fully control. Right now competitors like First Page Sage and Animalz are cited more often from their own content than Discovered Labs is, a gap that's entirely winnable.
Publishing and refreshing more helpful informational, listicle and comparison guides is the fastest, most reliable way to climb, because the source is internal — no outreach or third party required.
Where it happened: the communities
Discovered Labs' traction came from being genuinely helpful in the communities where its buyers spend time such as people working in B2B SaaS, marketing, sales and tech. CrowdReply helped it join these conversations naturally and on-topic, contributing useful answers rather than promotions. The most relevant communities included:
B2B SaaS & startup communities
Marketing & agency communities
Sales & cold-outreach communities
Developer & technical communities
Recruiting & operations communities

Supporting momentum: SEO and AI grow together
Discovered Labs is a young domain, and during this same window its Google search traffic climbed from essentially zero over the winter to ~585 visits/month, now ranking for 27 keywords (5 of them in the top 3 spots).
It's early, but it's the flywheel starting to turn: the same helpful content and community conversations that earn AI mentions also build the search footprint and the two reinforce each other over time.

Recommendations: how to win even more
Actionable next steps we'd prioritise to push Discovered Labs' AI visibility further:
Own more of your citations (highest ROI). Reddit leads overall, but among owned content competitors are currently cited more often than Discovered Labs. Expanding the “best AEO/GEO agency” guides and comparison pages is fully in Discovered Labs' control and the fastest path to more mentions.
Crack the broad question. “How can B2B companies improve visibility in AI answers in 2026” is still at 0%. A flagship how-to guide plus on-topic community answers should start moving it, just like the agency questions did.
Close the gap on ChatGPT. Gemini is at ~12% but ChatGPT is only ~5%. Targeting the sources ChatGPT favours and engaging in the threads it tends to cite would balance reach across assistants.
Climb from mid-list to top 3. Discovered Labs lands ~8th when named. More authoritative mentions and head-to-head comparisons lift position, not just how often it appears.
Target comparison & alternative queries. Buyers searching “best AEO agency” or “alternatives to [competitor]” are close to deciding and Discovered Labs already has pages here, so doubling down captures the highest-intent demand.
